We are pleased to announce James Ohr, DO, as Director of the Northwest Pennsylvania Clinical Trials Program for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, effective August 1, 2025.
In this new role, Dr. Ohr will provide leadership for our OHA medical oncology network sites located in Erie, Horizon Greenville, Horizon Farrell, New Castle, and Beaver. He will collaborate with the Radiation Oncology Director of Clinical Research for the network to engage radiation oncology providers in building a dual clinical and research mission at each site. He will also act as a liaison with UPMC Hillman disease/modality center physician groups and clinical research services leadership to ensure alignment in vision and workflows for conducting clinical trials. In addition, he will collaborate with site providers to set accrual goals and develop plans for meeting these goals for treatment and interventional trials at their location.
Dr. Ohr is a medical oncologist and hematologist with a clinical interest in gastrointestinal malignancies, peritoneal carcinomas, and head and neck malignancies. He is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. Dr. Ohr earned his undergraduate degree at Allegheny College and doctoral degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Ohr is a member of professional organizations including the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
