More than 300 members, representing 42 University departments, are working together to improve the understanding of cancer and to develop new lifesaving procedures in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center research programs range from basic science programs that examine the molecular basis of cancer development and progression in the laboratory, to translational and clinical programs that implement novel laboratory findings into clinical trials in humans, to population-based programs that focus on cancer prevention, epidemiology, and biobehavioral factors in cancer.
