We are pleased to announce Marci Lee Nilsen, PhD, RN, CHPN, FAAN, as the new co-lead of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s Biobehavioral Cancer Control (BCC) Program, effective March 1, 2025.
Dr. Nilsen has been a member of the BCC since 2016. She is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the School of Medicine and also holds a secondary appointment in the School of Nursing. Dr. Nilsen is also Director of the Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Program of our cancer center and an affiliate member of Pitt’s Center for Bioethics and Health Law.
The BCC program will continue to be co-led by Dr. Dana Bovbjerg, and Dr. Kathryn Schmitz, Interim Director, will no longer serve as a co-lead.
Dr. Schmitz said, “It has been a privilege serving in this capacity, and I am confident that the program will continue to prosper under the leadership of Drs. Nilsen and Bovbjerg.”
