Education

Journal Club

The focus of the Journal Club is to discuss the most exciting findings in women’s cancer research, report on related topics, and to stimulate interactions between basic, translational, and clinical researchers. The general theme will be translational research, discussing papers that give biological and mechanistic insight into clinical observations, with the goal of stimulating new thoughts on research programs in the WCRC.

Journal Club will return in the fall, please check back for dates.

Format: will be a 'round table discussion' with no slides...'presenters' will be more like discussion leaders giving a summary of the paper, explaining key points, and bringing prepared discussion points/questions to stimulate groups discussion.

Breast Cancer Translational Research Working Group

The purpose of the Breast Cancer Translational Research Group is to bring together our multidisciplinary group of researchers to increase collaboration and streamline research efficiency and productivity. The meeting is the first and third Wednesday of each month, and it is open to all members of the Women's Cancer Research Center and the Magee Women's Breast Center, as well as trainees within these groups. It is a great forum to improve communication between basic scientists and clinicians to maximize study potential - both by understanding the clinical underpinnings of our bench work and to incorporate basic science correlates into our clinical studies. Here we identify research obstacles, troubleshoot problems, get feedback about new ideas and concepts, practice research short talks prior to presentation at national meetings and share successes. Our goal is to increase our initiation of, accrual to and completion of our home-grown clinical trials.

The following poster templates are for the Breast Cancer Translational Research Working Group poster presentation.

External Work-in-progress (WIP)

The goal of WIP is to provide a forum for investigators (trainees, students, fellows, junior faculty) to discuss their research in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Time: The first Thursday of every month, 10:30-11:30 am
Place: MWRI-1st Floor Conference Room
