Please join UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in welcoming Saad Sheikh, MD, effective February 1, 2024. Dr. Sheikh is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh and a member of the Genome Stability Program at UPMC Hillman.
Dr. Sheikh will be treating primarily pediatric and CNS malignancies. He will also develop an active research program focusing on basic and translational research in pediatric cancers and will work to develop collaborations among other members of the Pediatric Cancers Disease Team and UPMC Hillman.
Dr. Sheikh is joining us from the University Hospitals of Case Western University School of Medicine, where he was a radiation oncology resident since 2019. He has been involved in research for nearly two decades, most recently at the Center for Immunotherapy and Precision Oncology in Cleveland. There he characterized the immune tumor microenvironment of gastrointestinal tumors and explored how receptor tyrosine kinase mutations impact the immune tumor microenvironment.
He has been an active member of the research enterprise, publishing nearly twenty peer-reviewed publications, presenting at scientific conferences, administering clinical studies, and is a co-inventor on patent, “‘SMART’ Hydrogel For The Radiosensitization And Sustained Delivery Of Therapeutics Triggered By Irradiation.”
Dr. Sheikh earned his MD from New York University Grossman School of Medicine.
