Bioinformatic Data Analysis Services

In the area of data analysis CBS provides support for all omics platforms including bulk RNA Seq, single cell RNA Seq, spatial technologies including sequencing platforms such as Bruker DSP, Visium 10X, Visium HD and imaging platforms such as CosMx and Xenium. CBS CBS’s use a wide variety of algorithms, tools and software ranging from publicly available software to in-house developed custom pipelines. CBS also works closely with computational biology faculty to incorporate and adopt emerging AI methodologies into the data analysis pipelines. CBS ensures rigor and reproducibility through extensive documentation and methods for reproducibility such as containerization.

Support for Team Science

Support for team science include both project-driven data analysis such as for clinical trials and SPOREs as well as infrastructure support or data coordination center (DCC) for multi-institution team science projects such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)’s AURORA metastatic breast cancer project. Importantly, the DCC is modeled after large cancer efforts such as TCGA and NIH DCC guidelines and adheres to principles for data harmonization, security, metadata standardization, infrastructure and others.

Genomics Education

In the area of genomics education, CBS delivers workshops in collaboration with the Center for Research Computing, teaches graduate student classes at DBMI, provides consultations and supports UPMC Hillman’s summer academy for undergraduate students.
