Combined Palliative Care and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training at UPMC

Program Directors: Annie Im, MD and Ethan Silverman, MD

UPMC is offering a 3-year combined fellowship for Palliative Care and Hematology/Oncology training. Typically, this training would require 4 years, but through innovative curriculum design and structure, trainees who seek triple-board certification will be able to complete both fellowships in 3 years at one institution. Applicants will interview with both programs during the recruitment process. An optional 4th year is offered for additional research time and coursework towards a Master’s degree.

Training will be integrated such that while each year is focused in either Palliative Care or Hematology/Oncology, there will be mentorship, teaching, and experiences in both specialties throughout the 3 years.
