Welcome Michal Nisnboym Ziv

Please join us in welcoming Michal Nisnboym Ziv, MD, to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, effective August 25, 2025. Dr. Nisnboym Ziv is Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh and is affiliated with UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, UPMC Shadyside, and UPMC Presbyterian.

Dr. Nisnboym Ziv will diagnose and treat tumors of the brain, spinal cord, and other parts of the nervous system, manage both primary and metastatic neurological cancers, address neurological complications that arise from cancer or its treatment, interpret neurodiagnostic tests and imaging studies, collaborate on patient care with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists and pathologists, educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options and prognoses, and participate in or lead clinical trials and research initiatives.

She is returning to Pittsburgh after two years at Duke University, where she was a clinical fellow at the neuro-oncology program of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. Prior to that, she was a clinical fellow at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and a research fellow at UPMC Children’s Hospital. She completed her residency training in neurology at the Department of Neurology, Tel-Aviv Medical Center, and earned her medical degree from Hadassah Medical School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel.

Dr. Nisnboym Ziv has published her research in peer-reviewed journals; presented abstracts, posters, and invited lectures nationally and internationally; and has authored a book chapter on neuro-oncology neuroimaging.
