Scheduling
Investigators should allow appropriate time to complete requested work. The Biostatistics Facility has ongoing work on numerous projects.
For new projects, we typically begin with an initial meeting to discuss the project’s background and some of the details relating to our involvement. For example, before developing the statistical section for a research grant proposal or a clinical trial, or initiating statistical analyses, we will work with the investigator to clarify the:
- objectives of study
- key endpoints for analysis
- study design and conduct
- issues to be addressed by statistical analysis
Members of the BF have expertise in different disease sites and treatment methods, and their specialties are listed on the Personnel page. If your area of research is not included, please contact us at biostats@pitt.edu.
Data submission
For all data submitted to the BF for analysis, follow the required Data Submission Requirements.
Fees
The BF does not bill UPMC Hillman Cancer Center members for biostatistics consultations, nor does it bill for developmental work on grant proposals in which we will be involved.
Work on funded projects is typically done on a percentage-effort basis, which is expected to be covered by each project’s budget. Appropriate funds should therefore be sought to support the anticipated biostatistical work that will be needed.
