Biostatistics Facility is committed to advancing the training of the next generation of cancer researchers and biostatisticians. Our faculty and staff actively contribute to education and mentoring across multiple levels:
- Graduate and Postdoctoral Training: BF members mentor biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and biomedical science trainees on cancer-related research projects.
- Clinical and Basic Science Fellows: We provide guidance in study design, statistical methodology, and interpretation of results to fellows across oncology, surgery, and related disciplines by attending their journal clubs and helping them with various projects.
- Lectures and Short Courses: BF offers lectures and short courses on topics such as clinical trial design, statistical methods for translational research, and data analysis strategies.
- Grant and Manuscript Development: Investigators and trainees receive support in preparing statistical sections for grant proposals and publications, fostering strong collaborative science.
Through these efforts, BF strengthens the scientific community at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and ensures that investigators and trainees gain the skills necessary to conduct rigorous, innovative cancer research.
