UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is offering a 1-year focused fellowship training in leukemia and other hematologic malignancies, named in honor of Mrs. Barbara Westerberg. This non-ACGME fellowship program will offer specialized clinical and research training in hematologic malignancies. The goal is to train competent, caring, and empathic physicians who are mindful of the significance of their role in the diagnosis and management of patients with hematologic malignancies.
The fellowship program will start on July 1st 2025 through June 30th 2026. The curriculum will include hands-on clinical experiences on the inpatient Leukemia service and the outpatient clinics at the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers. Fellows will work closely with 10 clinical faculty who focus on leukemia and hematologic malignancies. There will be dedicated time for research focused leukemias and myeloproliferative disorders such as essential thrombocythemia.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold an M.D. or D.O. degree and have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine or international equivalent
- U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or be eligible for J-1 Visa Sponsorship
- Applicants may have completed a Hematology/Oncology or Hematology fellowship
